Hello,. I was surprised and rather annoyed to be informed of your trancsription of my Chris de Burgh bass part (https://basslessons.be/transcriptions.php?i=410) credited by you to Pino Palladino. While i am not always proud of my history as a bassist, the performance royalty payments (radio etc) are the only income that an old session player can hope for these days, thanks to PPL. I have seen this misconception appear before, and I'm sure you will understand thsat I intend to take action to prevent it continuing. I must ask you therefore, to remove this incorrect and damaging accreditation from your wesbsite, with my compliments on your accurate transcription. Your sincerely, John Giblin

Hello John, My sincere apologies for the mistake. I will correct this immediately. I wish you would have just contacted me via the contact form instead, though

Hi,and thank you for correcting this.. old session players, like me, rely on income from recorded work to get by. For any of your readers who might find it of interest, I was working with SIMPLE MINDS at the time-they did not approve of my session career, so Chris' manager agreed to keep my name OFF the album. The bass used on this song was a Joe Zon 5-string - with electronics removed, and replsced by Musicman Stingrsy circuit. Very best wishes, John Giblin

I'm pretty sure this was Pino Palladino. I mean, it's good sound and everyone over at talkbass says so. What proof is three to the contrary?

Jack, and it is not enough for you that this was confirmed by the bassist himself (John Giblin), who played the bass in this song and his name is on the CD cover?

Valery, and you believe it is enough for someone to simply say they did something and that they did? If that's the case, then I'm Jack Casady. Pino Palladino is also credited on the album, so, what's your argument?

Jack, I read an interview with Chris DeBurg for a long time, where he told the story of recording bass for this song. The album was recorded, but it was the bass in this song that Chris didn't like. Pino went on tour and then Giblin was invited. He arrived in a long leather coat. Played bass in an hour, asked again - "are you really liked the bass lines that I played?" And he left.

And another proof - the name and surname of John Giblin IS on the cover of the album.

Thank you John from one Zon player to another (my Sonus fretless has its original bart pickups ;)) . This song and your melodious bassline has always been an inspiration to me in my playing. Heartfelt thanks.

I’ve been playing bass for 60 years on a fender precision 1964
This is my favorite bass line of all time
Thanks for this transcription - and to John Giblin - you’re amazing

Super bass playing. The bass melody sings own song. Thanks to the composers.
